Oculus VR Founder Wants To Make VR Porn With An "Industrial Robotic Arm" (NSFW)

Technology. Wondrous, progressive technology. As VR continues to grow, it's finding more and more uses in the modern world: physical therapy, coping with trauma, military uses, and ... porn. So when Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey joined up for a roundtable discussion called 'AVRS Hentai VR Pool Party With Palmer", it's not surprising what kind of topics were out in the open. But it wouldn't be Palmer if things didn't get a little weird (yes, weirder than hentai), so naturally the conversation turned to the use of certain peripherals for this particular corner of the VR market.

The former Facebook employee pulled no punches when it came to calling out big names in the VR world for ignoring the prominent market for porn within Virtual Reality, immediately going after his former employer in addition to Valve:

"If I were at a major VR company again, probably what I would do is secretly fund adult virtual reality content. Pornography has been an important driver for every recent form of media," says Luckey as he claims that many of the big forces behind the VR push are actively ignoring the adult VR consumer base.

According to Luckey himself, the actual VR employees love the idea of adult VR, but it's those in charge of PR that are the major road block. Though the interest is there behind the scenes, he says that it's nearly impossible for these developers to talk about this underdeveloped market at public events.

There have been booths and such set up at events like E3 in recent years. During the 2016 press conference, there was a huge section cornered off specifically for press to try out various VR porn experiences. It was ... awkward, but oddly enlightening as far as market value goes.

Where things really got juicy (oh ...), was when peripheral talk came into play:

"At some point, there will have to be a standardization between the hardware and the software. Industrial robotic arm, like the kind that you use to build cars. If anyone knows a good place to put a very expensive, large robot arm for adult VR developers to borrow and experiment with to make their toys, send me a message so that I can think about it."

There were other topics of conversation in the video roundtable (naturally conducted whilst Luckey wore a two piece bikini). To hear more about his thoughts on VR, as well as militarization of the technology, you can check out the full interview right here.
