If you thought the unstoppable freight train that is PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds was in danger of slowing down, well, think again. Recently the official Battlegrounds Twitter account revealed the game has sold over four million copies in a very short amount of time:

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds managed to sell its first million units within only two weeks, and surpassed the three million mark earlier this month. So yeah, Battlegrounds hasn't lost a step – if anything, its momentum is still building.

According to addition information released by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' developer Bluehole, the game has how generated over $100 million in revenue. Battlegrounds blows away other, better-funded games on Steam, peaking at 230,000 concurrent users, with an average of 100,000 daily users. The game is also rapidly becoming a major spectator sport, with up to 350,000 people watching the game on Twitch at its peak (the game is second only to mainstays Dota 2 and Counter-Strike). In terms of player breakdown, with 24% of players are from the US, 19% from China, 6% from Germany, 6% from Russia, 6% from South Korea, 4% from Japan, and 4% from the UK.

Perhaps most impressively, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds isn't even finished, as the game is still in Steam Early Access. Bluehole's Chang Han Kim thanked the fans for their support, and promised the company is working hard to prepare for the game's full launch:

"I genuinely appreciate all the love and support the fans have shown to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Our team is working hard to deliver a stable gameplay experience as we prepare for our full launch later this year."

For those who still unsure what PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds is about, the game is a large-scale multiplayer deathmatch inspired by movies like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. 100 players are dropped onto an island without any weapons or equipment and have to gather resources and eliminate opponents in order to become the last person standing. If you think that sounds pretty rad, well, you're not alone.

The full version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds should arrive on PC and Xbox One this fall.
