Articuno and Lugia have officially invaded Pokemon Go…and we’ve got your first look. Niantic released both Legendary Birds into the wild yesterday at the culmination of Pokemon Go Fest. You can check out a gallery of images featuring in-game looks of both Articuno and Lugia in the photo gallery above.
Players “unlocked” Lugia for their efforts during Pokemon Go Fest, which involved players banding together to catch as many Pokemon as they could around the world. In addition, Niantic also added Articuno to Pokemon Go as a reward for Team Mystic, who caught the most Pokemon at Pokemon Go Fest.

Legendary Raids were officially added to the game at 9 PM ET, which meant that most of the East Coast won’t be able to find Lugia or Articuno until tomorrow, but that the rest of the United States could quickly find and enter the Legendary Raids that seemed to be popping up all over.
As Raid Bosses, Articuno and Lugia are both pretty tough to defeat. From what we’ve heard, it will take at least 8 to 9 high level players to beat the Legendary Pokemon are earn a chance to capture them.
We’ll have a more detailed breakdown of Articuno and Lugia on Sunday, but in the meantime, be sure to click through the galleries and get a peak as to what both of these majestic Pokemon look like in Pokemon Go.
