Pokemon Go announced late last week that it was hosting its first ever live event this summer. Pokemon Go Fest will be held on July 22 in Chicago, although other details about the event have yet to be announced.

When Pokemon Go first announced Pokemon Go Fest, they were quick to point out that there were plans in the work for other live events around the world, many of which would take place this summer. For instance, Pokemon Go would have a presence at the Pikachu Outbreak Festival in Japan and would also coordinate events with the European Unibail-Rodamco chain of shopping malls.

In addition, Pokemon Go said they would also continue to coordinate events with the Knight Foundation’s Open Streets program, similar to the one held in Charlotte, NC earlier this year.

While Niantic’s official press release didn’t give complete details on a total number of live events, an email sent out to some players noted that there were plans for a total of 96 live events this summer. Pokemon Go Fest and the Pikachu Outbreak Festival will likely be the two largest events, but there’s a good likelihood that a Pokemon Go event will be coming to a city near you this summer.

We don’t know where the 96 events will be held, but we do have a few educated guesses. Obviously, a large portion of the events will be held at the over 70 Unibail-Rodamco shopping malls in Europe. Pokemon Go‘s US partner, the Knight Foundation, limits its involvement to 26 US cities, ranging from smaller locations like Akron, OH to larger metropolises like Miami.

In addition to the cities mentioned above, the Knight Foundation is also located in the following cities:

  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Macon, Georgia
  • Miami, Florida
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • San Jose, California
  • St. Paul, Minnesota
  • Aberdeen, South Dakota
  • Biloxi, Mississippi
  • Boulder, Colorado
  • Bradenton, Florida
  • Columbia, South Carolina
  • Columbus, Georgia
  • Duluth, Minnesota
  • Ft. Wayne, Indiana
  • Gary, Indiana
  • Grand Forks, North Dakota
  • Lexington, Kentucky
  • Long Beach, California
  • Milledgeville, Georgia
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  • Palm Beach County, Florida
  • State College, Pennsylvania
  • Tallahassee, Florida
  • Wichita, Kansas

Not all of these cities are going to play host to a Pokemon Go event. Gary, IN is located right outside of Chicago, for example, and Palm Beach County is adjacent to the county where Miami is located. However, this is a pretty good list to start guessing where addition US-based Pokemon Go events could be held.

It’s also all but guaranteed that at least one other event will take place in Australia, where Pokemon Go first launched and continues to have an active userbase.

We’ll have to wait a few more weeks for more news about Pokemon Go‘s big summer plans. However, players who can’t make the trek to Chicago shouldn’t give up hope about getting to experience a live event just yet.
