With San Diego Comic-Con happening next week, we were wondering if Sega would have any kind of presence at the show. After all, it’s attended in the past, hosting special Sonic the Hedgehog themed events, as well as other activities for games. And, in case you forgot, Comic-Con was where Sonic Mania was first announced.

Well, good news โ€“ Sonic is coming back with a vengeance! The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account has confirmed that Sega will be hosting a special concert during the week of San Diego Comic-Con, and it looks like it’ll be open to the public โ€“ until it reaches capacity, obviously.

The tweet reads, “Jun Senoue. Shota Nakama. “Sounds of Sonic” arrives July 20th in San Diego!”, and then features the flyer that’s pictured below. The concert is set to take place at the Hilton Bayfront in the Indigo Ballroom, starting at 6 PM, and Comic-Con attendees will be able to enjoy the show.

Sounds of Sonic‘s description reads, “Master-producer, composer and guitarist Shota Nakama performs live with a special band featuring musical guest, legendary Sonic sound director and guitarist Jun Senoue. This spellbinding experience will feature special arrangements of both classic and new Sonic themes and will delight audiences of all ages.”

While Sega hasn’t let on to other plans at the show just yet, this will more than likely tie in with playable Sonic the Hedgehog games on the show floor, including the upcoming Sonic Mania, which is due for release next month; and Sonic Forces, the Sonic Generations-esque follow-up that’s set to arrive sometime later this year. We’ll let you know when Sega confirms its other plans for the show.

This, combined with the other video game-oriented activities that will be taking place, should make San Diego Comic-Con a lot of fun for fans of games. And don’t forget some of the cool goodies that you’ll be able to pick up as well, including these great Mondo Contra and Castlevania goodies, amongst other great collectibles.

Sonic Mania will release on August 15th for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, while Sonic Forces will arrive later in the year for those platforms.
