The Steam Deck quickly became a monster hit for Valve when the portable launched a few years ago. Being able to take most of your favorite PC games on the go was a game-changer for players, and Valve has put in a ton of work with developers to get the bulk of the Steam library compatible with the Deck. Still, a few major games havenโt made the jump to the portable system. It can happen for several reasons; however, the most common issues are online multiplayer and anti-cheat systems. Below, youโll find a list of the five biggest games on Steam that are not Steam Deck compatible.

The games listed below are ordered by their all-time peak player count, going from lowest to highest. Weโll note when that player count has dropped, but all of these games are still being played by tens of thousands of players every day.
5) Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege X

- All-Time Peak Player Count – 201,933
When Rainbow Six Siege got the Siege X update, the game got a new injection of life. As of this writing, it’s still hitting around 70,000 players a day. That’s obviously half of its all-time peak, but still a very healthy audience.
Unfortunately, Siege suffers from an issue that plagues many multiplayer games when it comes to Steam Deck compatibility. The anti-cheat developer Ubisoft uses simply doesn’t work with the portable platform. It would’ve been a great addition alongside Siege X, but the anti-cheat issue kept it from happening.
4) Rust

- All-Time Peak Player Count – 262,284
Like Siege, Rust‘s current daily player count is about half of its all-time high. That’s a steep drop-off, but most developers would love to have over 100,000 players online at any given time.
Also similar to Siege, Rust‘s version of anti-cheat keeps it from being Steam Deck verified. Unfortunately, SteamOS doesn’t work well with several anti-cheat programs. Unless a developer decides to turn it off or Steam makes a big OS change, you won’t be playing these games anytime soon.
3) Grand Theft Auto V

- All-Time Peak Player Count – 364,548
Grand Theft Auto V‘s popularity has been remarkably steady since launching more than a decade ago, thanks in large part to developer Rockstar’s continued support for GTA Online. And while an average of 65,000 players per day is nothing to sneeze at, it’s fair to say most of those players are waiting for GTA VI.
Here’s where things get a little different from most of the other top games on the list: GTA V does work on Steam Deck. You just can’t play GTA Online. If you only want to dive into GTA V‘s offline single-player story, you can easily do so on the Deck. However, as soon as you try to log into your online character, you’ll be greeted by the very familiar anti-cheat problem.
2) Apex Legends

- All-Time Peak Player Count – 624,473
Apex is still hitting around 100,000 players on Steam every day despite being less popular than it was a few years ago. It’s not hitting the numbers of the next game, but both games share a similar problem when it comes to Deck compatibility.
For Apex, it comes down to anti-cheat and multiplayer functionality. It is a little weird that Valve and the developers haven’t found a way to get around those issues, especially with other popular online shooters, like Valve’s Counter-Strike 2, being partially supported on the Deck.
1) PUBG: Battlegrounds

- All-Time Peak Player Count – 3,257,248
PUBG still holds the record for player count on Steam, and while other big hitters in the all-time top five, like Black Myth: Wukong and Monster Hunter Wilds, have dropped off their concurrent player counts, PUBG remains one of the most played games on Steam every day. Of course, Black Myth is primarily a single-player game, and many Wilds players dipped after finishing the story, but it’s still worth noting how big of behemoth PUBG is despite being out for so many years.
As of this writing, PUBG‘s 24-hour peak is over 600,000 players, so there is still a massive playerbase on Steam. Unfortunately, the game isn’t supported on Steam Deck because, like Apex, it makes use of anti-cheat and multiplayer services that don’t work on the portable device.
