We’ve been waiting an eternity for the team at Studio MDHR to release Cuphead for Xbox One and Windows 10 – a wait that will come to an end this September. That said, the team has gone through far more trials than we have when it came to putting the game together.

Studio MDHR co-founder Chad Moldenhauer explained this while talking to GamesRadar, noting that both him and his brother (and other studio co-founder) Jared started the game as a passion project, but it soon grew into something bigger – far more than either of them could’ve expected.
Development has actually been ongoing for nearly seven years now, and only had three people initially started on it. However, during E3 2015, when the game was considered “mind-blowing” by the attendees, that’s when things really began to take off – but not entirely for the better.
“We realized that there were a lot of people out there that wanted what we were doing. My brother and I quit our jobs, remortgaged our houses and began expanding the team. This was our chance to actually deliver the game we wanted to make all along, rather than the cut-scope game we originally planned with a three person team.”
And that also explains why the development has taken so long, since the game has pretty much been a three-person project. But it sounds like the fruits of that labor will finally pay off, as the game is set to arrive on Xbox One and Windows 10 on September 29th for the price of $19.99. Yes. Finally.
