With the Star Wars Battlefront II beta in full swing for all interested players, Microsoft is offering a free weekend for their Xbox Live services to allow those that don’t have the Gold Membership the chance to get in on the online action. Whereas usually a membership is required to play an online game, the benefits of the Xbox Gold program are free for a limited time starting now.

The Xbox Live free event is live now and will continue on until Monday, October 9th at 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET. The availability is called the Free Play Days For All and the event is not limited to just the Xbox One, it is also open for those still giving their Xbox 360s some love.

Though this does give players a taste of the multiplayer life on their consoles, the limited-time benefits do not extend to their Games With Gold program. Those not currently full-fledged members will not be able to purchase games at the discounted price, nor will they be eligible to cash in on the free titles offered. This includes the free titles offered this month which includes Gone Home, Oxenfree, and Rayman 3.

This is the perfect chance for those Xbox players that are interested in checking out Destiny 2, or perhaps wanting to try out the Star Wars Battlefront II beta. the Battlefront testing period is now open for all on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC – so for those that aren’t a part of the Xbox Live Membership, now is your chance to harness that inner Darth Maul and pwn some Storm Troopers.
