Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did some press at the Captain America: Civil War junket this weekend, and he finally addressed one particular elephant in the room: that pesky Inhumans release date. While acknowledging that the movie is very likely to shift away from its current July 12, 2019 date (itself the second date for the film, initially announced for November 2, 2018), he did double down that it’s at least still on the docket.

“Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big, joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big, fun continuation of that story for us,” Feige told Collider. “Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet.”
When followed up about the conflict with the TV interpretation of the Inhumans on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., he said that won’t prevent them from making their big screen take, saying “It’s a question of when.”
For regular readers, this is exactly what we predicted at Comicbook.com a month ago when Indiana Jones 5 was announced for July 19, 2019, one week after Inhumans‘ planned date. With both films being produced and distributed by Disney, and their history showing they’ve never released films closer than three weeks apart, it was a no-brainer that Inhumans wouldn’t be coming out on that original release date.
