“Legion” introduces today, at the “Marvel: Cup O’Joe” panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, Marvel and Fox showed the first footage from the upcoming FX television series Legion.

Legion focuses on David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Haller is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, a.k.a. Legion. Legion is the son of Gabrielle Haller and Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men. Legion is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel universe, but his different powers are divided between among his multiple personalities.

Legion stars Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton and Bill Irwin. Noah Hawley serves as an Executive Producer with Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and John Cameron. Hawley and Cameron were executive producers on the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series Fargo on FX.
