It turns out there was some truth to that Hannibal Buress casting rumor from earlier this year for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, the actor and comedian spoke about his upcoming roles, which included Homecoming (via ComicBookMovie).

"In Spider-Man, I play a gym teacher," he said. "I play one of the dumba** characters that don't realize he's Spider-Man. [My character thinks] 'He's Peter Parker. Oh man, this guy's really athletic!'"

Buress will undoubtedly bring something worthwhile to the role, regardless of how naive his character is to Parker's true identity. Buress continues to tour around the world doing standup comedy and has also been featured on shows like 30 Rock and The Eric Andre Show.

Avengers: Infinity War Co-Director Anthony Russo has extreme faith with what Homecoming Director Jon Watts is doing, and expects it could easily be the best one yet.

"I think the tone and the direction that he's heading in that movie are fantastic," Anthony Russo says. "I think it has the potential to be the best Spider-Man yet, and I know that's saying a lot because perhaps my favorite comic book movie of all time is Raimi's Spider-Man 2."

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7th, 2017.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Cast: Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman), Zendaya (K.C. Undercover), Donald Glover (The Martian, Community), Jacob Batalon (North Woods), Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Tyne Daly (Cagney and Lacey), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), with Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Wrestler), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, The Avengers).
