Moon Knight has sometimes been described as Marvel’s Batman if Batman was at times on the verge of psychosis and suffered from multiple personalities. Okay, so maybe not so similar.

Either way, the character has become a fan favorite over the years, and you can include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn among those who have a fondness for the vigilante. He was recently asked about Moon Knight and if the character would possibly be in his film, to which he responded “Oh my God I love Moon Knight & I have a great idea for a movie, I just wish I had the time (but, no, he doesn’t belong in Guardians).”

While he won’t be appearing alongside Rocket Raccoon and Groot anytime soon (nor should he really), Gunn does have an idea for a Moon Knight project it seems. If that ever comes to fruition, you can count Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio in, as he tweeted “Ok Monsignor @JamesGunn if you’re going to make #MoonKnight into a film. Dude I’m in.”

The character has been rumored to be in the next round of Marvel’s growing Netflix universe, where he would immediately fit in with the other street level heroes that Marvel has explored there thus far.
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are all available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017. The Defenders expected later in the year. The Punisher does not have a release date yet.
