When moviegoers first met the Mad Titan at the end of The Avengers, many did not think the baddie would become as pivotal as he is today. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building towards the cosmic being for years now, and Avengers: Infinity War will finally pit Thanos against a legion of superheroes. Everyone from the Avengers to the Guardians of the Galaxy and even Doctor Strange will go head-to-head against the despotic overlord, but there is one star who think Thanos needs a bit more backstory.

If you ask Zoe Saldana how she thinks the third Avengers flick should approach the tyrant, she’ll say it should be with more understanding.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, the actress told the site that the blockbuster needs to carve out room where fans can learn about what makes Thanos tick.

“In Infinity War, if Thanos is the enemy of the universe right now, and he’s the threat, it would make sense for us to explore his evilness by what he’s done to his offspring, his kids. So, I hope we get to explore that because he’s very bad.”

Of course, Saldana would know all about the horrors of Thanos given her connection to Gamora. The starlet plays the alien assassin in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, and Gamora will also appear in Avengers: Infinity War. The heroine was raised alongside her so-called sister Nebula as Thanos raised the girls as adopted daughters; However, the power-hungry being did little to create a happy family. The two girls feared Thanos, and both were all too happy to abandon him at the end of the first Guardians film.

To think, Tony Stark believes he has daddy issues…

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos. Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
