It’s been some time since Agent Carter was cancelled, but fans cannot let the slight go. The period drama was a much-loved part of Marvel’s programming, but ABC floundered to pick up enough live ratings to keep the series afloat. As such, a third season of Agent Carter never came to be, but storylines had already been put into motion for the hopeful season. Recently, Hayley Atwell opened up about what the cancelled season of Agent Carter would have looked like. And, as expected, the details will only make fans of Peggy Carter even more desperate for a series revival.

Atwell attended Heroes and Villains Fan-Fast in London over the weekend where she answered fan questions about Agent Carter. It was there the star said the show’s third season would have lifted the lid on Peggy’s English upbringing and the impact which her late brother still had over his sister.

Aside from familial ties, Atwell also said that season three would have delved into Peggy’s relationship with the Jarvis family more so. The actress said that exploration is one she was particularly interested in as Peggy’s dynamic with Jarvis piqued her interest during season two.

As for some of the show’s dangling plot threads, Atwell said she was just as interested in learning how they stitch back together. The actress said Agent Carter wrote script additions during production, leaving actors to think on their feet during shooting at times. As such, Atwell didn’t even know that Chad Michael Murray’s character Thompson was shot at the end of season two until the actor told her.

However, there is one plot hole which fans are most interested in seeing filled. As discussed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Peggy eventually married and had children; However, fans are still not sure who the agent’s husband is. Atwell said she still has no idea who ended up marrying Peggy in the MCU, but she is just as eager to find out as fans are.

You can read the synopsis of Agent Carter‘s first season below:

“Hold onto your hats as one fearless woman redefines heroism in the perilous arena of international espionage. With equal parts brains, beauty and brawn, Marvel’s Agent Carter on ABC ignites a firestorm of adventure, suspense and action-packed fun integral to the origins of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 1946, top SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) operative Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is still reeling from the loss of Steve Rogers (a.k.a., Captain America). But now that the war is over, peacetime deals her yet another blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Now her “missions” consist of fetching coffee and answering phonesโ€”until old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) is framed for selling his deadliest weapons to the highest bidder, and he contacts the one person he trusts to clear his name: Agent Carter. Working as a secret double agent with the aid of Stark’s butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), Peggy must evade both her SSR colleagues and mysterious foreign assassins as she attempts to track down those responsible and dispose of the weapons before they inflict mass destruction.”
