Marvel’s Black Panther premiere brought out a milestone gathering of stars, with the red carpet having innovators like Stan Lee and George Lucas following in one another’s footsteps. In the case of the latter, having the Star Wars creator in attendance was a big deal – and the most star-struck person may have been Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn!

Oh also tonight I fulfilled a dream by meeting George Lucas and telling him sincerely he changed my life by creating Star Wars and he told me how much he liked the Guardians movies and Iโm tweeting this from heaven because Iโm dead now sorry. Bye!

Needless to say, Gunn is going to remember Black Panther as a milestone viewing experience for several reasons!
For fans of both Marvel and Star Wars, this is a pretty cool little exchange to get giddy over! The architect of the greatest sci-fi adventure franchise of his day shaking hands with the architect of one of the greatest sci-fi adventure franchises of this day and age? Priceless.
Oh to be a fly on the wall to overhear James Gunn ‘talking space shop’ with George Lucas… It’s hard to remember that both filmmakers were independent auteurs doing their own kind of thing before hitting it big with unlikely mainstream crossover hits. After the demands of both Marvel and Star Wars are done, one wonders what kind of project Lucas and Gunn could do together…
If you want to Inception them into doing it, head over to Gunn’s Twitter feed and start dropping those suggestions!
