One of the strengths Black Panther has when he leaves Wakanda is that, knowing he lives in the heart of Africa, many people dismiss him and the technology that exists in his nation. For those lucky enough to see what Wakandan culture is capable of, and live to tell about, they realize just how wrong they were to assume they were a primitive culture.

Letitia Wright stars as Shuri in the upcoming Black Panther, the younger sister to T’Challa, who’s well-versed with Wakanda’s tech. Of all the gear she gets to play with, the actress revealed a pair of gauntlets hold a special place in her heart.

“My favorite tech so far has been the gauntlets because obviously, that is my baby,” the actress revealed in an interview with ScreenRant. “That is my protection and I made them, so that’s been my favorite so far. And there is more in store. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.”

She added, “When you watch the film in February, on the 16th of February 2018, you are going to be pleasantly surprised at what Shuri adds to the technology world and also to the armor of protection for her brother and her people. So I am excited for you to see that.”

Her character’s familiarity with tech could come in handy further down the line in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Shuri inherited the mantle of the Black Panther in 2009’s Black Panther Vol. 5.

Although it might be a little early to think Wright could replace Chadwick Boseman as the titular hero, it sounds like Wright is more than up for the task.
