If you’ve finished the second season of Daredevil, you know the series ends on an unexpected note. The season wraps after Matt Murdock reveals his heroic alter-ego to Karen Paige, leaving her shocked by the confession. Fans didn’t get to see how Karen reacted to the revelation, and Charlie Cox wishes Marvel had filmed the emotional aftermath.

The Daredevil star attended San Diego Comic Con earlier this month to talk about The Defenders, and Cox brought up the finale of his show’s last season (via CinemaBlend). It was there the actor said there’s a lot he would’ve liked Marvel to explore.
“In the 6 months since DD ended and this show begins, there is so much stuff that I would like to have explored. Like I’d love see the conversation between him and Karen,” Cox explained.
“At the end of Season 2 he hands her the mask, and says I’m Daredevil. I’d love to have seen that conversation. And maybe we will. Maybe we’ll see that in a flashback or something, I don’t know.”
So far, Karen is the first person whom Matt willing divulges his Daredevil identity to. Even Foggy Nelson learned the truth on accident, so Matt must have felt a particular way about Karen to tell her the truth. The pair have a complicated relationship which bounces from platonic to romantic, so fans would be curious to see how Karen reacted to Matt’s double-life.
There is a chance The Defenders could touch on the topic; After all, there will be large time gap separating the miniseries from Daredevil’s second season. Six months have passed in the MCU since Matt shared his secret with Karen, and it appears the vigilante has retired his Daredevil activities. The choice to hang up the suit may have been influenced by Karen’s reaction if it were not a positive one, so audiences will want to pay close attention to Matt’s reaction towards Karen as the MCU moves forward.
The Defenders will bring phase one of the Netflix Marvel universe to a close, and will likely set up the next big phase of the universe. In addition to the core four shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist), the universe will also be adding a Punisher series to its schedule, though no release date has been announced.
The Defenders stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil/Matt Murdock), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra Natchios), Babs Olusanmokun (Sowande), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Rachel Taylor (Trish Walker), Scott Glenn (Stick), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Debbi Morgan (Delores), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page).
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now, while The Defenders is expected later in the year. The Punisher does not currently have a release date. Netflix has announced a second season of Jessica Jones and a third season of Daredevil, but no release dates have been announced for those either.
