Star Ryan Reynolds made the surprise announcement on twitter, accompanied by an image that uses the same crass humor that made audiences fall over laughing in the theaters. “I’m Coming Early,” the image says. Reynolds writes, “This doesn’t usually happen to me. #yesitdoes,” furthering the joke.

Deadpool has been a massive success for 20th Century Fox after taking eleven years to make, grossing $760 million worldwide. It’s the top-grossing X-Men film in the States and worldwide in the 16 year history of the franchise at Fox, and the #1 R-rated film in worldwide gross (second in the U.S. to Passion of the Christ by about 10 million bucks).
