Ever since Sigourney Weaver was announced to be playing the villain in the crossover show, fans were wondering how her character Alexandra would impact the lives of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
As it turns out, Alexandra’s character wasn’t the main threat to the Defenders in the eight-episode series; it was Elektra.
The Hand resurrected Elodie Yung‘s character as the Black Sky after the events of Daredevil Season Two, but she spent most of the series without the memories of her previous life. Trained to be the weapon of the Hand, she became a powerful assassin controlled by Alexandra. But her interactions with Matt Murdock gradually restored her memories.
After Alexandra sent Elektra to retrieve Iron Fist so he could be used to break through a magic wall underneath their Midland Circle building, Elektra ended up stabbing Alexandra in the back and cutting off her head in front of the other leaders of the Hand, including Madame Gao and Bakuto. She then took control of leading the villainous cabal, threatening to do the same to them.
With her memories fully restored, she planned to push the Hand’s plan forward for her own means. Alexandra’s goals in New York City would help her achieve immortality, and now that Elektra remembered her death she vowed never to die again.
She then leads the Hand in their final confrontation with the Defenders, ultimately leading to a standoff with Daredevil in the ruins under New York City.
The Defenders is now streaming on Netflix.
