Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen doesn’t sport the same costume as her comic predecessor, but that doesn’t stop her from being fantastic in the role.

Still, it was a point of possible contention when Olsen was meeting Joss Whedon for the part. Olsen spoke a bit about the opening meeting on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
“About the same meeting Joss Whedon even mentioned who we were meeting about, he said, ‘There’s this character Scarlet Witch that I’m interested in for you to play,’ and then he said, ‘When you go home and Google her, just know you will never ever have to wear what she wears in the comics,’” Olsen recalled, as Meyers showed the comic version wearing a bathing suit and a cape. “Because I did ballet growing up, but that’s not a confident look.”
While the movie costume isn’t comic accurate, I personally feel they struck a nice balance with it. The original costume isn’t the most practical to be sure, but I would at some point like to see her adopt the headpiece she sports in the books. To me, that tends to be the most iconic part of the costume.
