When it comes to the Fantastic Four, Fox is really hoping the third time is the charm. Over the years, the studio has rolled out two lackluster attempts to turn Marvel’s first superhero family into box office royalty, and Fox may be getting ready to give the team another go.

Recently, reports surfaced about Fox and its plans to develop a family-centric Fantastic Four reboot. The rumor purports that the studio wants to make a film starring Franklin and Valeria Richards, the children of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. And, now, it looks like The Hollywood Reporter is adding coal to the reboot’s fire.
Recently, the site wrote up a piece about one of San Diego Comic Con’s most surprising reveals. Noah Hawley told audiences last Friday that he was working on a Marvel film for Fox about Doctor Doom, and The Hollywood Reporter’s article buried a mention about the studio’s reported Fantastic Four reboot.
The vetted site simply links out to the original article by Bleeding Cool which prompted reboot speculation. The hat-tip gives credence to the latter site’s scoop, and Hawley’s revealation about a Doctor Doom reboot makes it all the more plausible that Fantastic Four is weighing upon Fox’s mind. If the studio is trying to make a movie about the team’s most famous villain, Fox may be cranking out ideas for the superhero family itself.
According to Bleeding Cool’s original report, Fox is said to be developing a kid-friendly superhero film featuring the Human Torch and the Thing. Details describe the film as being tonally similar to Pixar’s The Incredibles, so fans shouldn’t expect any kind of gritty aesthetics with Fox’s third reboot. The site also reported Seth Grahame-Smith is the writer behind the new film’s script.
