During a recent Facebook Live Q&A promoting Vol. 2‘s home release, James Gunn was asked which scene in the film he enjoyed directing the most. While he revealed that there are several that come to mind, he said that the final moments between Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) took the cake. Check it out in the video below!

“There were a few of them,” Gunn revealed, “but I’d say that the final scene in space – not giving away too many spoilers – between Michael Rooker and Chris Pratt. Yondu and Peter Quill. Their final scene together was probably my favorite scene to film.”

Gunn went on to say that filming the scene has remained a memorable experience for him, as he was able to get a unique performance out of both Pratt and Rooker.

“I saw two actors acting at their full potential,” Gunn explained, “reaching new heights on film that neither one of them felt like they had done before. So I love seeing that.”

In the months since Vol. 2 first hit theaters, Yondu’s death scene has become one of the most noteworthy – and heartbreaking – sequences in the film. Earlier this month, Gunn expressed how emotional writing the scene ended up being for him. Rooker, on the other hand, joked to ComicBook.com during last month’s San Diego Comic-Con that the Guardians writer/director “loves” killing his characters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
