According to Jeff Sneider, on the latest episode of Meet The Movie Press, Sony already has eyes on an actor for one of the film’s major roles.
The host claimed that Ice Cube is being considered for the role of Miles Morales’ father, Jefferson Davis. While that’s not an official casting by any stretch of the imagination, it definitely gets fans excited for the film.
Unfortunately, Sneider didn’t offer any additional details on the subject.
In the comics, Jefferson Davis was a police officer, who had a troubled relationship with his brother. After the two men end up living together, added pressure is put on teenage Miles.
The animated feature is not the only Spider-Man media getting a release this year. Many fans are already aware that the teenage hero will get another standalone movie this summer. Spider-Man: Homecoming will see Tom Holland bring the Queens character back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, over on Disney XD, the network has plans to debut a new Spider-Man animated series come July.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine โ distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man โ but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
