Not only is Luke Cage the next entry in the Marvel/Netflix TV series universe, but it’s one of our top picks to watch in September. He has proven to be an unstoppable force and a real protector (read our official review here) of the city he’s trying to clean up from organized crime to petty theft.
Watch Luke Cage catch a bullet with his hand in the clip below:
After watching that, we wouldn’t think that anybody wants some. The street-level superhero series is already being compared to the likes of The Wire as a gritty crime drama.
Cheo Hodari Coker, legendary hip hop culture journalist and Luke Cage showrunner, is clearly going for heavy drama with even heavier action, featuring a soundtrack that pays homage to lyricists of the ’90s. Coker described the show as being “a powerful fusion of dark drama, hip-hop, and classic superhero action.“
Luke Cage also stars Mahershala Ali as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Rosario Dawson reprising her Daredevil and Jessica Jones role as Claire Temple.
