We’ve already seen the death of a major character and the betrayal by another over the course of the series, but one previously dead character returned to the living and seems to be on the side of the former Captain America.

Issue #5 of Secret Empire closes with one character’s betrayal against the resistance, sending Hydra Cap’s tentacle-wielding Helicarriers to their secret base on the Mount for a devastating attack. But while Hydra forces launch an arsenal of firepower at their base of operations, Rogers prepares yet another ace up his sleeve to debilitate their forces for good.

Now, to preface (and to give the spoiler-phobes one last chance to get out of here), the last time we saw this character was in the pages of Civil War II. That wasn’t so long ago, but quite a few characters died in that event.

Last warning.

So, after Thanos punched a hole through War Machine, the Inhuman Ulysses had a vision of Bruce Banner hulking out and killing a bunch of Avengers. So, Hawkeye killed him before he got a chance โ€” at Banner’s behest, with a flashback revealing the anger-addled scientist gave his sharpshooting teammate an arrow capable of killing him.

But as we know in the Marvel Universe, death is but a temporary state.

Steve Rogers has apparently resurrected the Hulk. And he plans to use him against the remaining Avengers.
โ€จIt all begs a ton of questions. Sure, Rogers has the means, especially the Hand’s godkiller known as the Gorgon on his side. But the Hand already tried resurrecting the Hulk in the pages of the Uncanny Avengers andโ€ฆ that didn’t go so well.

We’ll see how Banner reacts to his reality-warped friend in Secret Empire #6.
