It looks like the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has set the godly franchise back on track. Fans have worried about how the hero’s solo comeback would fare after his second standalone was met with mixed reviews. However, it looks like the Thunder Gods’ absence was felt by many, and people were ready to see him back in action. When Marvel Studios dropped the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok earlier in the week, fans flocked to the short clip. And, now, its massive views have broken a mighty fine record for Disney and Marvel.

According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok accrued over 136 million views in just 24 hours. The number makes the video the most viewed Marvel trailer within that timeframe. In fact, Thor now holds the record of being the most viewed trailer across all of Disney’s live-action and animation divisions within a single day.

In the past, the record was held by Disney’s recent live-action fairytale take. Beauty and the Beast had 127.6 million views when it debuted. Star Wars: The Force Awakens garnered 112 million views in that timeframe, and Captain America: Civil War held the flag for Marvel with 94 million.

Many fans were not expecting Thor to be the hero who broke Beauty and the Beast’s record, but it is not too surprising. Before the footage was released, a slew of Marvel creators stressed the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok would be Marvel’s best to-date. James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, said he was eager for fans to see the rompish clip.

Sadly, Thor: Ragnarok was not able to beat out the film who holds the title as the most viewed trailer within 24 hours. That prestigious honor belongs to New Line Cinema’s upcoming take on Stephen King’s It. The horror film debuted its trailer back in March, and it gained 197 million views in 24 hours. Before that, the Fate of the Furious amassed 139 million views.

Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok โ€“ the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization โ€“ at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger โ€“ The Incredible Hulk!”

The cast features Chris Hemsworth in the title role for the fifth time; Tom Hiddleston as Thor’s adversarial, adopted brother, Loki; Idris Elba as the Asgardian sentry, Heimdall; Sir Anthony Hopkins again portraying Odin, Ruler of Asgard; Mark Ruffalo reprising his role of Bruce Banner/the Hulk; Cate Blanchett as the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela; Jeff Goldblum as the eccentric Grandmaster; Tessa Thompson bring the classic hero Valkyrie to life on the big screen; and Karl Urban will add his might to the fray as Skurge.
