Beginning in Avengers: Age of Ultron and continuing in Captain America: Civil War, Scarlet Witch and Vision have had an inexplicable relationship with one another, as they are both capable of extraordinary things and are unaware the breadth of their powers. This came as no surprise to comic books fans, knowing that the two characters were romantically linked in different storylines, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to explore romantic relationships between its heroes.

When speaking with We Got This Covered, Elizabeth Olsen explained that Avengers: Infinity War will continue to explore the characters’ romantic connection.

After being directly asked about the nature of Scarlet Witch and Vision’s relationship, Olsen explained, “In any other world I would say, ‘I don’t know,’ but because there are paparazzi photos that kind of spoil things for fans โ€“ I think it’s safe to say that we now get to explore that part of the comic book.”

She continued, “We get to introduce and really explore their relationship. It creates a really exciting arc for me and I’m so lucky I get to work with (Paul) Bettany all the time now.”

Despite audiences seeing their romance blossom through a variety of emotional scenes in Civil War, the two took opposing sides in their views of the Sokovia Accords, which many fans thought would drive them apart. Based on Olsen’s comments about their relationship, we can assume that they’ve at least found some temporary middle ground in order to set their differences aside to battle Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming are in theaters now, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
