Well, now it’s official – 2016 can officially be dubbed “Year Of The Deadpool’. As if the character didn’t have enough merchandise in Hot Topic stores around the country, and the movie wasn’t an absolute sensation, star of the film Ryan Reynolds was just named EW’s Entertainer Of The Year.

At last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards, Reynolds was given the award towards the end of the ceremony. Host TJ Miller, who also acted as Reynolds’ co-star in Deadpool, presented the actor with the award, along with EW editor Jess Cagle.
Reynolds has always been one of Hollywood’s favorite funny men, but his take on Deadpool really launched his stardom to a whole new level. Deadpool became the highest-grossing R-Rated film in Global box office history after its release in February of this year. The movie easily earned a sequel order, but director Tim Miller won’t be returning to the franchise.
Reynolds approached the stage to thunderous applause, and he firs thanked the entire creative team that helped to create Deadpool. He reminded the crowd that the film was an 11-year journey, and it took a lot of work to finally debut.
The actor went on to thank the folks over at 20th Century Fox, and then turned his attention to the people who really had his heart. He mentioned that the movie was important to people, especially young people, fighting cancer. Reynolds then dedicated the award to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Sick Kids Foundation of Toronto.
