Fox has already announced that three X-Men films will be hitting theaters in 2018. Everyone knows what to expect from Deadpool 2, but New Mutants and Dark Phoenix will be slightly unfamiliar territory. At least, that’s what everyone thought.

It looks like one of these films will be getting some assistance from the characters of the First Class trilogy.

During an interview with Cinemablend, X-Men producer Hutch Parker confirmed that some of the characters from the Fassbender/Lawrence/McAvoy team would appear in Dark Phoenix. When the interviewer asked him about the rumored inclusion of Michael Fassbender, Parker gave this response:

“I’d rather not confirm any of those officially, but yes, the current story that we’re working on has that group involved as well as some of the younger characters that we introduced last time.”

Magneto (Fassbender), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are the core members of the former group, so expect some combination of them to appear. According to the interviewer, Parker also insinuated that Magneto and Mystique would be the ones turning up in the film.

The younger characters he was talking about refers to the new X-Men that appeared in X-Men Apocalypse. While nothing was confirmed, it was assumed that Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, Jubilee, and Quicksilver would be major characters in the new film. After all, it does tell the story of Jean Grey.

Parker gave no word as to what role any of these characters would have in the movie, or how long any of them would appear.
