New York Comic Con is a big enough event that keeping the massive crowd of attendees safe takes a lot of extra effort from the brave men and women of the NYPD.
But apparently the NYPD isn’t without a sense of humor (or is it strategy?) when it comes to covering NYCC; as you can see below, one cop really made sure to blend into the crowd, by totally standing out with his creepy cosplay.

With @NY_Comic_Con happening, our plainclothes officers had to step up their game. #NYCC #CosplayCops pic.twitter.com/AhRYAZ8ooD

That’s right, a plainclothes officer (who has not been identified) kept watch over New York Comic-Con by dressing up as Pennywise from IT, and the department definitely committed full-force (pun) to the subterfuge.
On the one hand, this is pretty cool; but on the other, kind of disturbing on multiple levels. Could you imagine a creepy-looking guy dressed as Pennywise suddenly pulling a gun out? Yeah, sit with that visual for a second…
Chief Joseph Fox tries to get a hastag trend started with this “#CosplayCops” comment in the tweet; it’s anyone’s guess just how far the Internet is prepared to take that.
I feel like the hashtag #cosplaycops could drum up some…unfortunate submissions
