According to official estimates based on Friday and Saturday box office and projections for Sunday, Amazing Spider-Man 2 will finish with a $92 million opening weekend at the U.S. box office. Amazing Spider-Man 2's opening weekend is the second highest opening weekend by a film at the U.S. box office this year, trailing only Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which opened with $95 million. Unlike Captain America: The Winter Soldier which had glowing reviews from an early international opening, Amazing Spider-Man 2 had mixed reviews, which likely negatively impacted the film's U.S. opening weekend. Amazing Spider-Man 2 finished well ahead of the competition at the U.S. box office, generating more than six times the box office take of the next closest film. The Other Woman finished in second place with a $14.2 million U.S. box office, and Heaven is for Real finished in third place with a $8.7 million U.S. box office. Captain America: The Winter took fourth place with a $7.76 million U.S. box office.
