Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick shared the first photo from Disney‘s upcoming “female Santa Claus” movie, Noelle.
“It begins….. N O E L L E,” Kendrick wrote in an Instagram caption accompanying a photo of herself suited up in a green Christmas-flavored outfit. The movie, from writer-director Marc Lawrence (Music and Lyrics, Did You Hear About the Morgans?), sees Kendrick playing Nicole Claus, daughter of Santa. Nicole takes over Santa duties from her now-retired dad when her apprehensive brother (played by Bill Hader) refuses to don the boots and sack up.

Kendrick and Hader will be joined by Billy Eichner and Shirley MacLaine, who plays Nicole’s former nanny, Elf Polly.
Disney previously explored the subject of a reluctant Santa fill-in who is tapped for the legendary position in The Santa Clause trilogy, which starred Tim Allen as a corporate toymaker-turned-ol’-Saint-Nick. Little is known about Noelle, but it seems the two series are unrelated.
Kendrick can next be heard in Trolls Holiday, based on DreamWorks’ 2016 hit animated film, airing on NBC Friday, November 24. Kendrick will reprise her role as leader of the Bellas in Pitch Perfect 3, out December 22.
