Not much is known about how that will work or if the two will be on-screen at the exact same time, but actor Chris Hemsworth has heard the pitch for the project from J.J. Abrams and has nothing but great things to say (via SlashFIlm). "I've spoken to J.J. Abrams, and he has an amazing pitch on the whole thing, " said Hemsworth, who was also asked how it comes to be. To that, he said, "I honestly don't know."
Hemsworth played James Tiberius Kirk's father George Kirk in the original Star Trek reboot, where he went down with the ship before he could meet his son. As to how the two will cross paths, time travel and alternate universes is something the series has already utilized, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make it happen.
