With Daniel Cudmore stepping down from his role as Colossus in the X-Men movie universe, Andre Tricoteux has taken over, and will play the Russian mutant in the upcoming Deadpool movie.
Tricoteaux spoke to ComicBook.com about the role, and explained that his version of Piotr Rasputin will be different from what fans have seen on screen before primarily in that it will be closer to the Colossus X-Men fans have read about in comics for decades.
"It was very important for [director Tim Miller] and the rest of the Deadpool folks that we keep this Colossus really traditional to the true comic book story," Tricoteux said. "You've seen the look of him is different. Obviously, I think Tim's already leaked this, but he's got a Russian accent. We kept him really traditional to the true comic book version. That's going to be the major difference.
"I think with Deadpool too, you're going to get a little bit more backstory on Colossus and kind of see who he is and how he views the world, and how he views himself in the world. And I think that differs a little bit because I don't think you've been able to get that with Colossus in some of the previous X-Men movies."
Tricoteux will make his debut as the new, true Colossus in Deadpool. Watch for our full interview with Tricoteux later today.
