Ernie Hudson Ghostbusters

Of all the original Ghostbusters, it was Ernie Hudson who at one point had expressed concern about a female-led reboot of the franchise as being a bad idea.

Now that he's seen the script, seen the cast in action and filmed his cameo -- as did Bill Murray, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver -- he's much more enthusiastic about it.

"They're extraordinarily funny and there's a great chemistry with them," Hudson told People. "I think it's going to be very good. The script I knew was good. I knew the special effects would be amazing. But I was really pleasantly surprised to see how the women kind of gelled together."

The new Ghostbusters film is being directed by Paul Feig, stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones and is the vanguard of a new cinematic universe of films inspired by the 1980s supernatural comedy.

Ghostbusters 3 is hitting theaters on July 15th and you can find out more about this and other movie releases in Comicbook.com's Movie Release Schedule.
