The Lion King will be crowned king of the box office in its opening weekend. After taking in a $78 million on Friday, the film is headed to an opening weekend of at least $192 million, which would beat Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 current July opening record of $169.1 million. That also makes it the biggest opening of director Jon Favreau’s career, surpassing the $128.1 million opening weekend of Iron Man 2. The Lion King is a CGI remake of Disney’s animated classic of the same name, featuring superstar voice talents like Donald Glover and Beyonce Knowles-Carter.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will move into second place. The film earned an estimated $6 million on Friday. It’s estimated to take in $22 million over the weekend. The film’s domestic total will climb to $304 million domestic.

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter heads to Europe on a class trip with Ned (Jacob Batalon), MJ (Zendaya), and the rest of their class. The trip becomes less of a vacation and more of a work trip when Spidey is called in by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to team up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and investigate mysterious elemental creatures popping up across the continent.
Toy Story 4 moves into third place. After earning an estimated $4.37 million on Friday, the animated feature is looking at another $12.6 million in its fifth weekend in North America, bringing its box office total to $365 million domestic.
Disaster horror flick Crawl comes in fourth this weekend. The story of alligators terrorizing a hurricane-stricken Florida town earned $1.72 million on Friday. The film will take in $6.4 million in its second weekend, bringing its box office total to $19.6 million.
