Warning: Spoilers ahead for tonight's episode of Arrow, titled "A.W.O.L."
On tonight's episode of Arrow, fans watching one of the trailers have seen what pretty clearly seemed to be John Diggle's wife Lyla Michaels, being shot by an intruder inside A.R.G.U.S.
...And, yes. A recurring character does die tonight, but it's not who you probably think.
Tonight's episode sees the death of Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S. and the woman responsible for the Suicide Squad.
Along with Deadshot, she's the second recurring guest star on Arrow with ties to the Squad to die since Warner Bros. announced the forthcoming release of David Ayer's Suicide Squad movie, a new trailer for which debuted last week.
Next time we see Task Force X referenced, it will likely be on The Flash, as Suicide Squad member King Shark has escaped and is on the loose in Central City in a forthcoming episode, which will guest-star David Ramsey (Diggle) and Audrey Marie Anderson (Lyla).
It's worth noting that as far back as Comic-Con International 2014, Ramsey intimated that Diggle and Lyla might take over more duties at A.R.G.U.S. if Amanda Waller were out of the way.
Check back after Arrow for more on how the loss of this character impacts the series as a whole, particularly John Diggle and Lyla Michaels.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
