Earlier today, Hollywood took a blow when reports surfaced that Bill Paxton had passed away. The well-known actor died at age 61 after complications arose from a recent surgery. The news stunned fans around the world as the industry prepared for tonight's Academy Awards, and plenty have used the occasion to honor Paxton's legacy. However, Hollywood is not the only community dealing with the sudden loss.

Today, hundreds of storm chasers have taken time to pay respect to Paxton. The actor, who famously starred in the thriller Twister, put the vocation on the map when the 1996 movie hit theaters. To celebrate Paxton, a group of storm chasers decided to do what they could to honor his memory, so they did what they do best: they chased storms.

As reported by Gizmodo, hundreds of storm chasers in the midwest gathered together and used GPS pings to make a tribute for Paxton. The professionals used Facebook groups to coordinate their efforts, and the planning resulted in hundreds of chaser using GPS apps to ping their locations across several states. When looked at upon a map, the pings clearly spell out "BP" to honor Paxton.

A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. We ask to please respect the family's wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father."
