While Iron Man 3 news has slowed while Robert Downey Jr. recuperates from an ankle injury, we've got a possible casting update for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. According to a report in The New York Post, there are three actresses in the running to play the lead female role. Of course, the lead female role is still a mystery at this point in time, but if we were going to bet on it, we would think it would be Sharon Carter. In the comics books, Sharon Carter is a descendent (niece) of Steve Roger's wartime love interest Peggy Carter. Sharon Carter is also an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., so her appearance would fit nicely with earlier reports that S.H.I.E.L.D. will be part of the Captain America sequel. Marvel Studios is reportedly considering The Twilight Saga star Anna Kendrick, Like Crazy star Felicity Jones, and Fright Night star Imogen Poots for the lead female role in Captain America The Winter Soldier. There's no indication of who is the front runner among the three actresses, but all three are considered to be rising stars. Of course, Chris Evans will be returning as Captain America, and Sebastian Stan will reportedly be returning as Bucky Barnes (a.k.a. The Winter Soldier). It's also been rumored that Anthony Mackie has joined the cast as The Falcon, but the only thing Marvel Studios has really confirmed at this point in time is that Joe and Anthony Russo will direct and the film will be released April 4, 2014.
