Dr. Fate's Helmet on Constantine

Not long ago, ComicBook.com revealed that Constantine showrunner Daniel Cerone had been forced to leave DC Comics character Dr. Thirteen out of the first season of his NBC drama because the series hadn't received a "back nine" order and the character had been set to appear in the show's fourteenth episode -- already written but no longer planned to be filmed.

Cerone said at the time that Thirteen would appear in a second season if the show were to get one, and that otherwise the unused stories would be told somehow.

Today, a fan asked about another mystical DC Comics character: Doctor Fate, whose helmet appeared in the series' pilot back in October:

It's interesting that Cerone likely knows anything he says will be parsed online; in spite of a great deal of speculation that the show is done, he's remained optimistic and continues to talk about a second season as if it's a fait accompli.

Constantine airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
