Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor Draws More than 10 Million Viewers in the U.K.

"Day of the Doctor," the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special simulcast across the globe on Saturday, drew 10.6 million viewers in the U.K., accounting for 37.4% of all viewers watching TV in the country, according to Deadline.

The special aired in over 90 countries. The 75-minute special was the culmination of months of events leading up to the Christmas special, due out next month, which will mark the exit of the Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.

Peter Capaldi, who will replace Smith in that episode, was seen briefly in last night's episode, marking the third time the actor has appeared in the Who-niverse (he previously appeared in an episode of Torchwood and an episode of Doctor Who).
