's fiftieth anniversary special The Day of the Doctor generated $10.2 million at the global box office on those special Saturday and Monday 3-D screenings, Deadline reports. The episode generated $4.7 million at around 650 sites in the U.S. on Monday, selling 320,000 tickets. That made it the second biggest film of the day after The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which made a touch over $12 million. Nothing else approached even $2 million. The Day of the Doctor also dominated social media over the weekend, and was that top-rated scripted program in the U.S. on Saturday.
