Sony Pictures will debut "first looks" from Evil Dead and Carrie, two of the most anticipated and controversial movie remakes in recent years, at next month's New York Comic Con. The panel presentations for Carrie and Evil Dead will take place between 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM on October 13th, according to a press release. The Carrie panel will include the film's stars, Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, along with producer Kevin Misher and director Kimberly Peirce. Evil Dead's panel will include the film's star, Jane Levy, producer (and star of the Sam Raimi-directed original) Bruce Campbell and director, Fede Alvarez. While both films will hit in spring 2013--Carrie on March 15 and Evil Dead on April 12--little has been officially released from either of the movies, which has heightened both the anticipation for them and the concerns that they might not live up to their fan-favorite originals. Carrie is, of course, a remake of the 1976 Brian De Palma film that starred Sissy Spacek as the titular outcast teenage girl, based on the best-seller by Stephen King. Evil Dead is, as described by the release, a "1981 cult-hit horror film [that] finds five twenty-something friends holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival."
