Ghost in the Shell online game First Assault is receiving its first major content update, including a brand new playable Section 9 operative, Maven.
"Maven spent time in the South American military, where she honed her skills in guerilla warfare and topography," Neople Project Director, Jung Eik Choi tells ComicBook.com. "Chief Aramaki recruited her after an operation in which she single-handedly held off an insurgent attack after her entire squad was killed. She's a resourceful and deadly member of Section 9. Maven's troubled past is never far away though; she's vowed to destroy the rebel group that ravaged her country and killed her family."
Maven brings a unqiuely defensive barrier mechanic to First Assault's tactical FPS gameplay.
"Her cyberskill is a therm-optic barrier capable of obscuring sight, giving her teammates protection so they can change locations or use her shield as an optimal spot for sniping," Choi explains. "At level two of this ability, the size of the barrier increases, but it can still be destroyed by enemies."
Choi says she's looking forward to seeing the creative uses players find for Maven's special abilities.
"We believe that the players will find many other ways to use her skill strategically," she says. "We're really looking forward to this!"
The new content pack also includes a new map, called "Port", an early version of the Ghost Screen stat tracking feature, new weapons to unlock, and more. To celebrate the launch, Early Access packs for First Assault are getting a 40% discount, for a limited time.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – First Assault can be found on Steam.
