Gwyneth Paltrow is unsure of her future with the Iron Man franchise.
Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts, Tony Stark’s assistant-turned love interest, revealed in a recent interview that she isn’t sure if she’ll reprise the role in any more Marvel Studios films. But while Potts may live on in future installments, Paltrow made it seem that she may not be around for the ride.

“I’d like to do it,” Paltrow recently told Harper’s Bazaar. “But they might swap me out for an 18-year-old Pepper Potts or something.”
Paltrow has appeared in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie featuring Iron Man to date, starring in all three Iron Man films, and briefly appearing in The Avengers. She’s not currently listed on the cast for the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it is completely up in the air if she will appear in Iron Man’s next Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War.
It’s hard to imagine that Marvel would replace Paltrow with a far younger actor, given the age gap it would create between Pepper and Tony. Her comments were most likely supposed to be taken jokingly, but we’ll see what happens as Marvel rolls into Phase Three.
