Harry Potter E-Books Get New Covers By Olly Moss

Artist Olly Moss makes cover design look so easy.
This morning on Pottermore, it was announced that the renowned designer would be designing the covers for ebooks of the Harry Potter series. In an interview, Moss discussed how the covers of the book series initially turned him off as a child, but when his mother got the "adult" covers, he was an immediate fan.
"I skipped [Philosopher's Stone] because I was being a weird snob about it – I was ten", Moss said. "Then by the time Prisoner of Azkaban was out, I remember my mum saying I should read them."
Look at the designs, you can tell Moss works in more than one layer. The cover for Philosopher's Stone, at first look, shows an owl on a branch with Harry's acceptance letter to Hogwarts, but give it another thought and the image becomes much deeper.
The cover is in Gryffindor colors and the branch also doubles as a lightning bolt, echoing the imagery of Harry's famous scar.
"The initial 'oh that's an attractive image' then it's got a secondary reveal when you look closer", he says. "It's something that I've always enjoyed doing."
