Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill has apparently given a number of production workers on his just-wrapped (we assume) film The Man From U.N.C.L.E. commemorative "Challenge Coins," and one of the recipients posted an image of the coin, and the note that accompanied it, to the Internet, where it was picked up by HenryCavill.org, a fan-news site.

From Wikipedia: A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion (usually military but, as in this case, not necessarily), bearing an organization's insignia or emblem and carried by the organization's members. Traditionally, they are given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members. In practice, challenge coins are normally presented by unit commanders in recognition of special achievement by a member of the unit. They are also exchanged in recognition of visits to an organization.

When James Gunn recently distributed them to members of the U.S. military during a special screening of Guardians of the Galaxy, we noted that organizations often use the coins in a drinking game: a challenger presents their coin, prompting other members of the organization to do so as well. If all members have their coin on their person, the challenger has to buy a round of drinks. If someone fails to present one, they have to buy.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is based on a classic TV series which is getting the big screen treatment for the first time. Cavill stars alongside The Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer and Hugh Grant. The film is expected in theaters on August 14, 2015.
