Over the weekend, dinosaurs continued to reign supreme at the domestic box office. Jurassic World finished at the top of the domestic box office for the third straight week, narrowly defeating Inside Out in its second weekend.

Jurassic World took in an estimated $54.2 million at the domestic box office this weekend, bringing its total domestic box office to right at the $500 million mark. When official numbers come out on Monday, it's possible that Jurassic World could be slightly below the mark, but it could also be even higher than estimates above the mark.

Regardless, Jurassic World definitely passed Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the highest grossing movie of 2015 at the domestic box office. Avengers: Age of Ultron now falls to second place with around a $452 million take at the domestic box office.

Jurassic World is only the fifth movie in history to cross $500 million at the domestic box office. The other four films to accomplish the feat were Avatar, Titanic, Marvel's The Avenger, and The Dark Knight.
