Justin Long

On Friday, a rumor exploded on the Internet that Johnny Depp was appearing in Kevin Smith's TuskAin't It Cool News compiled some pretty compelling evidence supporting the possibility that Johnny Depp had been cast in Tusk. One of the key points of evidence was that Tusk star Justin Long had seemingly confirmed Johnny Depp's appearance. In an interview with Long Island Newsday, Long said, "Yeah, the one where a man turns into a war horse. It's called Tusk. Johnny Depp is in that one. I'm working on something coming up later." Of course, Tusk involves a man being turned into a walrus, so the war horse was likely a transcription error. After numerous news agencies started reporting that Johnny Depp was in Tusk based on the comment, Justin Long clarified his comment on Twitter. "I was joking around w kids back in December. The actor playing LaPointe didn't work til March #WalrusYes #DeppNo," wrote Long. Even though the interview that Long was quoted in was published in March, there is a note in the article indicating the interview was conducted in December. Of course, many are suspecting that Long might just be trying to cover up now for leaking a major piece of casting news. Did Long let a secret slip out? Or was he just making a joke?
