Pictured below is a note Ordway posted to the group featuring artwork from the get well card he drew for DC Comics, who sent it to the family of Christopher Reeve following the Superman: The Movie actor’s infamous 1995 horseback accident.
Ordway drew and/or wrote one or more of the Superman family of titles from the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths relaunch of the character in 1986 until Superman’s return from the dead in 1993’s Adventures of Superman #500. Reeve, of course, played the character in four feature films from 1978 until 1987.

“This is a copy of a card I drew, that everyone at DC signed and sent to the late Chris Reeve after the terrible accident that paralyzed him,” Ordway writes in part, saying that this post is “Probably the first time anyone besides DC staffers and the Reeve family are seeing it.”
Following the accident, Reeve lost the ability to move from the neck down, and spent the rest of his life campaigning for people with spinal-cord injuries and for human embryonic stem cell research, founding the Christopher Reeve Foundation and co-founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center. He passed away in 2004.
Ordway commonly scans and shares images from his early career online, with his Facebook and Twitter accounts being a useful resource for anybody looking for insight into how DC operated in the ’80s and ’90s.
